The Philippine National Police (PNP) reported 15 incidents of indiscriminate firing ahead of the New Year celebrations.
Based on data shared by PNP Spokesperson PBGen. Jean Fajardo this morning, Calabarzon region topped the list with six reported cases of indiscriminate firing.
Furthermore, four incidents were reported in Metro Manila, two in Central Visayas, and one each in Regions 9, 11, and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).
Among the reported incidents, three were cases of stray bullets in the NCR, and one occurred in Region 9.
Four people sustained injuries in the said incidents, while ten were arrested, and nine firearms were confiscated by the police.
In a report by RH Edniel Parrosa, it was stated that those arrested included a PNP officer, a security guard, a Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) personnel, and several civilians.
The information and data provided are from PNP monitoring efforts conducted from December 16 to December 29.
A PNP official also previously stated that the PNP will no longer tape service firearms, a practice previously followed during the New Year celebrations, explaining that PNP members are professional and responsible enough to understand the consequences of their actions.
