The Quiapo Church administration, in coordination with the Manila Police District (MPD), conducted a final walkthrough of the Traslacion 2025 route on Friday.
The walkthrough was part of the preparations for the Traslacion scheduled for January 9 next year, which marks the Feast of the Black Nazarene.
According to a report by RH Boy Gonzales, the walkthrough began at Quirino Grandstand and covered Burgos Avenue, Finance Road, Ayala Boulevard, Palanca Street, Hidalgo Street, Arlegui, Fraternal, Vergara Street, and other key areas.
During the walkthrough, officials ensured that all potential issues, such as low-hanging branches and road obstructions, were addressed as part of the preparations.
Also joining the walkthrough were officials from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), firefighters, and members of the MPD.
Notably, Vergara Street is facing significant accessibility challenges due to ongoing construction work, which has made the area difficult to traverse.
Officials are also taking into account the narrow streets that allow only one vehicle to pass, which could pose challenges given the high volume of devotees expected to attend the Traslacion each year.
MPD Director PBGen. Arnold Thomas Ibay stated that around 14,000 officers would be deployed on the day of the procession.
He further advised vulnerable individuals, such as the elderly and children, to refrain from joining the Traslacion to reduce the risk of harm.
Meanwhile, the Manila City Hall is addressing issues like hanging wires, faulty streetlights, and other hindrances that could disrupt the procession.
