The Philippine National Police (PNP) subjected 27 areas to the red category due to election concerns for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) to be held on October 30.

In the red category are the areas with incidents of election-related violence in the last two elections and threats of terrorism by local terrorist groups.

PNP Directorate for Operations (PBGen) Leo Francisco has yet to disclose the 27 areas that were under the red category, but he confirmed that most of them are in the Mindanao area.

On the PNP’s list, more than 4,000 places are in the yellow category, while 232 are in the orange category, which means that places with one or two factors in the yellow category are therefore at risk from terrorist groups.
