The Philippine National Police (PNP) admitted to undisclosed incidences of death from Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) raids.
In a press conference at Camp Crame on Monday, June 24, PNP Chief Police Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil said there have been casualties among foreign POGO workers which had not previously been detected by his personnel.
Marbil warned that police found to be involved in such irregularities will be held responsible; the national police chief revealed this was one reason certain high officials were relieved of their posts.
"I'll just give an example in Porac, no. Bakit natin rinelieve po 'yung provincial director doon and the chief of police: kasi may mga killings doon na hindi naimbestigahang mabuti. Hindi siya kasi normal eh," Marbil said.
("I'll just give an example in Porac, no. Why we relieved the provincial director there, and the chief of police: because there were killings there which were not thoroughly investigated. These aren't normal is why.")
The PNP are presently looking into the negligence of local police in Porac, Pampanga and Bamban, Tarlac, which allowed for thriving scam farms.
Among those under investigation is PNP's director for Central Luzon, Police Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr.
Marbil clarified that none in their ranks have been determined or are being investigated for being protectors of illegal POGOs.
