The Philippine National Police (PNP) has ordered the Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) to investigate the spread of a fake medical bulletin claiming information about President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s health.
In a report by DZRH's Edniel Parrosa, PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. condemned the circulation of the false bulletin, calling it not only insensitive and disrespectful but also a violation of the law. He instructed the PNP-ACG to form a dedicated team to identify and hold accountable those responsible for posting the misinformation online.
The fake bulletin was widely circulated on social media and drew criticism from Palace Press Officer Claire Castro, who specifically condemned a former broadcaster for sharing it.
St. Luke’s Medical Center also confirmed that the bulletin was false, while President Marcos personally clarified that he had not been diagnosed with diverticulitis and only required rest.
In a separate interview at Camp Crame, Executive Secretary Ralph Recto assured the public that President Marcos will resume official engagements next week, reaffirming his health and availability for public duties.
