Authorities have already identified five persons of interest in the June 29 shooting of a photojournalist in Quezon City, according to Philippine National Police (PNP).
In an interview, PNP spokesperson Police Colonel Jean Fajardo said they are following up with QCPD director Police Brigadier General Nick Torre the five persons of interest in the said shooting.
The victim, Joshua Abiad, a Remate Online photojournalist, was in a car with his relatives when another vehicle obstructed their path in Barangay Masambong at 3 p.m. on the 29th of June.
A man in a black jacket then got out of the car and began firing bullets before fleeing. A motorcycle rider was also observed standing guard.
Following the shooting, the perpetrators fled to Del Monte Avenue in their getaway vehicle. Six other people, including three youngsters, were inside the van with Abiad.
Abiad was taken to the hospital right away and is now safe.
The authorities said that a bystander was also struck by a stray bullet.
According to Fajardo, officials learned that the plate number of the culprits' vehicle was registered to a different vehicle. The owner of the second vehicle was found.
Their plates had been exchanged, claimed Fajardo.
With this revelation, Fajardo believes there is evidence that the media practitioner was shot by a "professional group.
Torre, she said, expressed optimism that the offenders will be apprehended by the end of the week because "they are hot on the trail of these five persons of interest.
