The Philippine National Police - Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) clarified that its officers did not curse at personnel from the Department of Transportation - Special Action and Intelligence Committee for Transportation (DOTr-SAICT), despite earlier claims, after a PNP-HPG convoy was caught passing through the EDSA busway.

"Para linawin at klaruhin, hindi po minura ng atin pong mga tropa ng Highway Patrol Group ang mga kasamahan po natin sa DOTr," PNP-HPG spokesperson PLt. Nadame Malang said in an ambush interview on Monday.

Malang added that PNP-HPG Director PBGen. Eleazar Mata immediately ordered the formation of an investigation team to further gather details on the entire incident.

The involved HPG officers are also set to be temporarily relieved pending the investigation into the incident that occurred on February 7.

Malang stated that there was no order or request from PNP Chief PGen. Rommel Francisco Marbil regarding the alleged suspension of operations along the EDSA busway.

Initially, a white van, along with another vehicle, was seen heading north on the EDSA busway in the Ortigas area. Reports also indicate that a high-ranking PNP-HPG official was among those in the convoy.

Upon nearing enforcers from the DOTr-SAICT, the vehicles attempted to leave the lane but were immediately stopped.

The DOTr mentioned that the HPG officers intercepted on the busway were reportedly heard using profanity directed at the SAICT enforcers.

The HPG is yet to provide information regarding the identity of the high-ranking officer said to be in the convoy.
