The acting director of the Philippine National Police–Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG), PBGen Jessie B. Tamayao, has stepped down from his post following a sexual harassment complaint filed before the National Police Commission (Napolcom).

Tamayao, who was only appointed to the position on March 9, announced his voluntary resignation, emphasizing that the move is not an admission of guilt but a commitment to due process and the integrity of the institution.

“My decision to resign is not an admission of guilt but a demonstration of my commitment to due process and the institutional reputation of the Philippine National Police,” Tamayao said in an official statement.

The complaint, filed by a policewoman, accused the official of inviting her to engage in “sexual activity” and allegedly touching her inappropriately. Tamayao firmly denied the allegations, describing them as possibly motivated by a “personal vendetta.”

“I want to state, in the clearest and most categorical terms, that I am innocent of these charges,” he said, adding that he has maintained professionalism throughout his 30 years of service.

He also stressed that stepping down would ensure an impartial, fair, and transparent investigation and would prevent any perception of influence or conflict of interest.

Tamayao expressed willingness to fully cooperate with authorities, saying he is confident that the truth will emerge through proper legal and administrative proceedings. He also called for fairness and respect for the presumption of innocence while the case is being investigated.
