The Philippine National Police (PNP) has granted educational assistance to the children of the 23 policemen who were killed in the line of duty.

In a statement issued on Sunday, PNP Public Information Office (PIO) Chief Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan said the dependents received the assistance at the Meridian Innovation Center in Pasay City on August 19.

According to Maranan, the assistance is part of their promise that the PNP prioritizes the welfare of their policemen and their families.

The program called PNP-Bayaning Pulis Foundation Educational Assistance covers tuition fee payment and the purchase of school supplies.

The PNP PIO Chief said they will not abandon the family of the slain policemen and that they will serve as a guide to them to make their dreams come true.

In return for taxing the lives and services of the police, PNP Deputy Director for Administration, LtGen. Rhodel Sermonia said that they would make sure that the dreams of policemen's children would come true.

"Today, we stand together to honor the memory of our brave officers who paid the ultimate price in service to our country. Through this educational assistance program, we aim to provide a bright future for their children as a tribute to their sacrifice," he remarked.
