The Philippine National Police Crime Labory had finished conducting the autopsy on 14-year-old Francis Jay Gumikib on Wednesday.
According to PMaj. Sotero Rodrigo, Public Information Office of the PNP Forensic Group, said the autopsy took two hours to document the condition of the remains of the victim, who allegedly died after his teacher, Mirasol Sison, slapped him.
Now the remains of the fifth-grade pupil have been retired to Heaven’s Gate Chapel for his funeral.
Moreover, although the autopsy has been done, Rodrigo said that it may take another week before the crime lab releases the result.
Meanwhile, according to the death certificate provided by the Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center, Gumikib died six days after being admitted to the hospital due to 'global cerebral edema' or inflammation of the brain for three days and had intraparenchymal hemorrhage.
Gumikib was sent to the hospital after having a variety of symptoms, including nausea, eye pain, vomiting, and ear pain.
Furthermore, while in the emergency room, the student vomited blood, and he was later diagnosed with lung disease.
