The Philippine National Police (PNP) has confirmed the rescue of a 14-year-old Chinese national who was initially reported abducted on February 20 in Taguig City.

In a report by Edniel Parrosa on Wednesday, Public Information Chief PCol. Randulf Tuaño stated that the student was found abandoned along Macapagal Avenue in Parañaque City last night.

The victim has since been reunited with his father and was taken to hospital for a medical examination.

Tuaño clarified that no ransom was paid to secure the student’s release. Instead, it was due to the "intense pressure" exerted by the PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group in coordination with the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

"Walang ransom po na ibinigay ang pamilya doon sa mga nag-abduct sa Chinese student," Tuaño said in a press briefing held at the PNP Headquarters.

Among the possible motives being investigated by authorities is the involvement of the kidnapping victim's father in a previous illegal POGO operation before he became a "big-time e-seller."

Meanwhile, the PNP is confident that the suspects behind the abduction, who are also believed to be Chinese, will be caught.

Earlier, the successful rescue was also confirmed to DZRH News by Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla.
