Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Police General Rommel Francisco D. Marbil reaffirmed the PNP’s commitment to ensuring a secure, fair, and credible election in 2025 during the Manila Overseas Press Club’s (MOPC) COMELEC and PNP Night, held at Marco Polo Club, Makati, on February 5, 2025.
Speaking alongside Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Chairman George Erwin M. Garcia, Marbil outlined the PNP’s strategies in maintaining peace and order, combating illegal drugs, and enhancing cybersecurity to address potential threats in the upcoming elections.
He emphasized that while traditional election-related threats such as "Guns, Goons, and Gold" persist, the rise of fake news and cyber threats has become a major concern.
To counteract these risks, the PNP is intensifying its campaign against illegal firearms and private armed groups (PAGs), as well as strengthening cybersecurity measures to combat misinformation that could undermine the electoral process.
Additionally, PGen. Marbil underscored the importance of collaboration between the PNP, COMELEC, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), and other government agencies in safeguarding democracy. He highlighted the need for stronger enforcement against vote-buying and corrupt practices that threaten electoral integrity.
The PNP Chief assured the public that law enforcement agencies are fully prepared to uphold peace and security, ensuring that the will of the people prevails without fear, violence, or manipulation.
