Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief PGen. Rommel Francisco Marbil has appealed to those he referred to as political backers and benefactors of Pastor Apollo Quiboloy to assist in the arrest of the religious leader.

Marbil indicated that providing sanctuary and assistance to a fugitive being pursued for child sexual abuse and qualified human trafficking is considered a grave offense.

The PNP Chief insisted that supporting Quiboloy should come with appropriate responsibility and clarification of the issue.

Marbil issued this reminder alongside his appeal to the allies of the KOJC leader to advise him to surrender to the authorities.

Marbil did not mention any specific political names, but he issued the statement after former President Rodrigo Duterte and his daughter, Vice President Sara Duterte, had previously released statements condemning the situation in Davao City.

Meanwhile, the PNP is exploring further charges that could be filed against both Quiboloy and the KOJC, following the discovery of alleged human trafficking victims within the compound.

A man and a woman, who were said to be trapped inside the compound after being recruited and unable to leave, were rescued by Davao police yesterday.

According to General Marbil, he has instructed Police Brigadier General Nicolas Torre III of the Davao region to investigate if there are more individuals with similar cases.
