The Philippine National Police (PNP) anticipates filing murder and frustrated murder charges against former Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) General Manager Royina Garma in the coming days, in relation to the assassination of former PCSO Board Secretary Wesley Barayuga.

In a report by RH Edniel Parrosa, PNP Spokesperson PBGen. Jean Fajardo stated that only a few days remain before charges are formally filed against those implicated in the reopening of cases triggered by recent Congressional hearings.

One of the reopened cases is the murder of Wesley Barayuga, and it was reported that among those who will face charges in connection with the case are Garma and former NAPOLCOM Commissioner Edilberto Leonardo.

The PNP previously stated that the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) is finalizing the documents of Barayuga's family, as well as the statement of the driver who survived the ambush in 2020.

Meanwhile, the PNP verified that US immigration authorities had detained Garma and her daughter, but the Directorate for Intelligence was unable to provide any further details.

Fajardo clarified that there is no hold departure order against Garma, as the case concerning Barayuga has yet to be filed.
