Two suspects in the pawnshop robbery in Colon Street, Cebu City were caught by police authorities, Philippine National Police (PNP) Central Visayas Regional Director Anthony Aberin said on Tuesday, Nov. 28.
In an interview during DZRH Damdaming Bayan, Aberin said the two suspects were nabbed in a checkpoint operation, shortly after the robbing incident ocurred in Oro Sugbu Pawnshop and Jewelry store.
"Dalawa ang nahuli sa checkpoint operation. Parehas na dalawang lalaki ang nahuli sa [Municipality of] Sibunga. Onboard nung vehicle na ginamit nila during the robbery hold-up," he said.
The PNP Central Visayas Regional Director said only firearms were recovered from the suspects.
The two will be subject for investigation as Aberin noted that they have no strong evidence against them yet.
"Ang ginagawa namin, person of interest pa rin sila sa nangyari. Immediately bago sila mahuli ay ilang oras lang ang natapos sa nangyari doon sa robbery incident doon sa pawnshop. Wala pa kaming matibay na ebidensiya para i-link sila sa nangyaring robbery," he said.

According to the PNP Central Visayas Regional Director, eight to 10 individuals were involved in the crime, including the drivers of the gateaway vehicles used.
Aberin said they have the names of some suspects and they are now under police investigation.
He confirmed that initial investigation showed that the suspects, who were caught in the crime scene, pretended to be National Bureau of Investigation personnel upon entering the Oro Sugbu Pawnshop and Jewelry store.
Based on closed-circuit television footage obtained and posted by Centurion Sai on Facebook, armed individuals were caught barging into the pawnshop at 8 AM on Friday, Nov. 25.
One suspect pointed a gun at the security guard and ordered him to lie down, while the others were seizing all the jewelry in the display cabinets.
The robbery lasted for two minutes and one second.
