According to the report of Val Gonzales in MBC Network News, the PNP-ACG identified the suspect as Mayumi Jane Ocubo, 31, using the Facebook account "Sofia Lim," a resident of Pilar Village, Las Piñas City.
Ocubo was arrested by PNP-ACG's entrapment operation on Wednesday evening, February 21.
Based on the complaint of the online seller of Thailand and Japan clothing products, Camille Arcibal, she first met Ocubo through her live online selling on Facebook on October 25, 2023, when he bought clothes worth more than P1,200.
In the suspect's statement, she said she paid through an online bank transfer and even sent his proof of payment.
The PNP-ACG investigation revealed that the one-time order was followed up many times until it reached more than P237,000.
However, when the online seller verified her bank account, she discovered that the bank transactions that were being sent to her were fake.
Arcibal immediately went to the office of the district anti-cybercrime team in the city of Manila to file her complaint.
The suspect was arrested and is currently facing charges of violation of RA 10175, or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012, and swindling or estafa.
