The Philippine National Police (PNP) will continue with the search for Pastor Apollo Quiboloy within the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) compound despite the cease and desist order issued by Davao Regional Trial Court Branch 15 regarding the presence of the Police Regional Office 11 in the area.
In an interview with reporters at Camp Crame in Quezon City, Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benhur Abalos stressed that the court's order only prohibits the police from blocking access and setting up barricades.
Before the Davao RTC ruling, the Davao PNP had prohibited members of the religious group from entering their compound but allowed them to leave if they wish to.
After dismantling the barricades set up by KOJC members who held a prayer rally yesterday, police officers then barricaded at the main highway of the city.
The court stated that the restrictions imposed by the PNP violate the religious rights of KOJC members.
Abalos stated that the police are close to finding Quiboloy, who is believed to be hiding in an underground bunker inside the KOJC compound.
The religious leader is being sought by the law for charges of qualified human trafficking and child sexual abuse, along with four other co-accused individuals.
