The Philippine National Police (PNP) officially removed 18 officials from service after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. accepted their courtesy resignations due to their allegedly involvement in the illegal drug trade.
"We have implemented the order or the acceptance so we issued the appropriate orders with regards to the acceptance, with regards to the process, I leave that to the (Directorate for Personnel and Records Management)," PGen. Benjamin Acorda Jr., chief of PNP, told reporters on Monday, July 31, in Camp Crame.
"(President Marcos) gave the letter, we received the letter, we get the acceptance letter so we implemented it,” Acorda added.
Meanwhile, Acorda assured that the PNP will immediately fill up the positions vacated by the 18 officials 'as soon as possible'.
"Any vacuum that will be created because of this acceptance and implementation should be filled up immediately," the PNP chief stressed.
President Marcos accepted the courtesy resignation tendered by the 18 PNP officials upon the recommendation of the five-man National Police Commission Ad Hoc Advisory Group.
