The transport group PISTON held a noise barrage along the service road of Roxas Boulevard in Baclaran on November 19, calling for a significant reduction in fuel prices following today’s rollback of only P0.75 to P0.95.

The group called on the government to abolish the excise tax under the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) Law and the Value-Added Tax (VAT).
They also pushed for the repeal of the Oil Deregulation Law, arguing that it would allow the government to regulate fuel prices and dismantle what they referred to as the oil cartel.
According to the jeepney drivers, their income is already insufficient, and with the sharp increase in fuel prices, the rollback they received does little to ease their burden.
PISTON further mentioned that jeepney drivers spend up to P6,000 each month on fuel, which is deducted from their earnings due to the high fuel prices.

The rollback in fuel prices is effective starting today, according to the Department of Energy (DOE).
