Sgt. First Class Cedrick Garin, 23, a Filipino soldier who was one of the 21 Israel Defense Forces killed in the recent massive explosion made by the militant group, Hamas in Gaza, has been laid to rest.
According to the Times of Israel's report, Garin was delivered to his final destination at Givat Shaul Military Cemetery in Tel Aviv.
His mother, Imelda; his father, Rico, who flew from the Philippines to Israel; and Cedrick's orphaned wife, Daniela, were present at the funeral procession.
The funeral rites for the deceased soldier were performed in both Judaism and Christianity, led by the personnel of the IDF military rabbinate, Garin's father-in-law, Yitzhak Ben-David, who performed the kiddish ritual, and two speeches from Christina clergy members who are representatives of the kingdom of Jesus Christ.
Sgt. Garin was born in the Philippines and went to Israel when he was young with his mother, Imelda, who worked as a cleaner. Garin's father, Rico, was deported from Israel when he was only two years old.
According to Garin's loved ones, he decided to become a soldier and later became part of the Givati Brigade as a tribute to the hardships of his mother, who raised him alone in Israel.
Cedrick also dreamed of supporting his mother so that she no longer has to work and be happy with his wife, Daniela while building a family.
It can be recalled that on Wednesday, the Israeli Embassy in the Philippines expressed its condolences to the bereaved of Sgt. Garin.
The embassy also said that they are fully committed to the support they will provide for Sgt. Garin's loved ones, especially in the saddest phase of their lives.
