A Pinoy scholar in Taiwan was arrested by the authorities after being caught with illegal drugs on Sunday, October 8.

In an interview with DZRH’s Damdaming Bayan, Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) Chairman Silvestre Bello III said that a male PhD scholar was arrested in Ximenting.

Iskolar pa naman 'to,” Bello said.

The authorities are currently contacting the Taiwanese friend of the Filipino student, who claimed that his friend was innocent and admitted that he bought the drugs and not his friend.

Moreover, the authorities are still investigating the incident.

Meanwhile, two Pinoy tourists were also arrested at the Taiwan airport in the last week of September for bringing about 10 kg of heroin to the said country.
