One of the two Filipinos, who were arrested in Japan for allegedly abandoning the bodies of the dead couple, was spotted buying daggers before the incident, according to Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Eduardo de Vega.
Citing reports from Japanese media, De Vega said that the DNA of the two suspects, Hazel Ann Morales and her accomplice, Bryan Dela Cruz, were detected in the house of the couple, and that Morales’ DNA also matched the murder weapon.
There are also evidences through CCTV that the Filipino woman bought daggers before the incident happened, he added.
Despite these allegations, the Japanese police have yet to confirm these details with the Philippine Embassy.
On January 19, Kyodo News reported that Morales was arrested for allegedly abandoning the bodies of Norihiro Takahashi and his wife Kimie inside their home in Tokyo's Adachi Ward.
However, upon investigation and through a CCTV footage, the Two Filipinos were seen coming out of the house where the couple, Norihiro and Kimi Takahashi, were found dead on January 16, 2024.
De Vega said that the two Filipinos were initially only being investigated for a minor crime because they left the body of the Japanese couple.
However, since new evidence was found, they had to be detained longer by the police.
