A Filipina caregiver was killed amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. announced on Sunday night.
According to the President, the overseas Filipino worker was identified as Mary Ann Velasquez De Vera, a native of Pangasinan who was working in Israel. Her identity was confirmed by her husband, who is also an OFW in Israel.
She was trying to bring her ward to a bomb shelter when the incident occurred.
The Chief Executive assured that assistance would be extended to the bereaved family of the victim.
The President said government continues to monitor the situation of OFWs in the region.
This is the first reported Filipino casualty amid the ongoing tensions in the Middle East.
