Continuous phreatic eruptions are still being observed at Taal Volcano, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).
"Kahapon, may phreatic eruption tayo, at kanina din, meron ulit tayo ala-1 [ng madaling araw], mga 6 mins. yun, phreatic pa rin at meron tayong 300 meters na plume height," said Dr. Teresito Bacolol in an exclusive interview in Magandang Umaga Pilipinas on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, no volcanic earthquakes have been recorded so far.
Bacolcol noted that there have been eight recorded volcanic earthquakes in the past 24 hours, which is much lower compared to the 337 recorded on September 11.
PHIVOLCS also recorded 5,719 tons of sulfur dioxide emissions.
"Ang phreatic eruptions are steam-driven explosions at nangyayari ito when water comes into contact with hot volcanic gases, so parang steam lang talaga siya, from time-to-time may ganyan talaga dahil may tubig sa Taal," he further added.
Taal volcano remains under alert Level 1 or low-level unrest.
