The Philippine government has allocated Php 13.1 billion as cash assistance to 10.7 million residents affected by the return of Metro Manila to enhanced community quarantine.
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said on Tuesday, August 3, that the funds will come from the savings of government agencies.
Beneficiaries will receive at least Php 1,000 per individual or Php 4,000 per household.
Roque announced on Friday, July 30, that the National Capital Region will revert to the strictest community quarantine status starting August 6 until August 20.
The decision came after Metro Manila mayors recommended a two-week implementation of enhanced community quarantine in the region to prevent a possible surge of 2019 Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) cases due to the Delta variant of the virus.
