Authorities have identified a person of interest from the incident involving a photojournalist’s car set ablaze in the early morning hours of Wednesday last week.
However, police have denied the disclosure of the suspects’ identities as investigations into the incident are ongoing.
According to a report on Magandang Umaga Pilipinas on Monday, the attack occurred at around 2:35 AM outside Michael Varcas’ residence in Barangay Pinyahan, Quezon City.
For another report, the victim recalled being awakened by the noise of a motorcycle that had stopped by his vehicle. A blast was heard only a moment after it sped away. Varcas found his car burning when he stepped outside.
The Quezon City Police (QCPD) and Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit recovered fragments of what was discerned to be an improvised molotov cocktail.
A CCTV recorded two suspects riding a motorcycle, with one lighting a bottle of gasoline before fleeing the scene.
Authorities are looking into whether Varcas was targeted for his work as a photojournalist.
