Police Brig. Gen. Nicholas Torre III said on Thursday that the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) confirmed that the shooting incident involving a photojournalist is now a "case solved."
On June 29, photojournalist Joshua Abiad of Remate Online was shot while driving his SUV in Barangay Masambong, Quezon City.
Torre, however, stated that the investigation cannot be called "closed" because the quest for the suspected mastermind and other suspects is still underway.
In a press briefing, he said that the case is considered by the definition of Philippine National Police (PNP) standards, clarifying that it is already solved but ongoing.
He added that the case remains open due to the ongoing manhunt for the suspects.
The QCPD is still looking for the suspected mastermind, who is said to be a former Pasay City Barangay chairman.
Authorities reported the arrest of one of the suspects in the shooting incident that targeted the photojournalist and his family on Tuesday.
Eduardo Almario Legazpi II has been recognized as the suspect.
Torre stated that they would file murder and attempted murder charges against the individuals on Thursday morning.
The QCPD expects to apprehend one additional suspect later today.
Meanwhile, Abiad survived the ambush, while his four-year-old nephew died later on after being admitted to the hospital.
