PHL wins two more gold medals in World Combat Games

The Philippines won two more bronze medals in the ongoing 2023 World Combat Games in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Maria Aisa Ratcliff added to the medal haul after defeating Botakoz Yeldoskyzy of Kazakhstan, 3-1, on Monday, October 23, in the women's wrestling grappling gi 53 kilograms event.

The earlier victory of Ratcliff against Zhenishgul Abdyrakhman Kyzy of Kyrgyzstan in the quarterfinals, 3-0, assured the Filipina of a podium finish in the World Combat Games.

Fierre Proudhon Afan also snagged a bronze medal after beating Anthony Guy De Oliveria of France, 3-1. in the men's wrestling grappling gi 71 kilograms.

As of Monday, the Philippines already has two silver medals and six bronze medals in the World Combat Games.

Agatha Wong bagged a silver medal in the women's wushu taolu taijiquan and taijijian event while Clemente Tagubara Jr. placed second in the men's wushu 65 kilograms.
