PHL logs rise in unemployment in 2022

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) reported on Wednesday, February 8, that the unemployment rate in the country rose to 4.3 percent in December 2022 from 4.2 percent in November 2022.
PSA Usec. Dennis Mapa said that the number of unemployed persons in the Philippines, ages 15 years old and above, increased from 2.18 million to 2.22 million in December 2022.
"The country’s unemployment rate in December 2022 was estimated at 4.3 percent, the second lowest since April 2005, following the 4.2 percent in November 2022," Mapa said in the report.
"The unemployment rate in December 2022 was lower than the unemployment rate in the same month last year at 6.6 percent," Mapa added.
