Janry Ubas won a bronze medal for the Philippines on Sunday, February 12, in the 2023 Asian Indoor Athletics Championships in Astana, Kazakhstan
The 29-year-old Filipino athlete garnered a total of 5,246 points to place third in the heptathlon event.
Yuma Maruyama of Japan snagged the gold medal with 5,801 points while his fellow countrymen Keisuke Okuda placed second with 5,497 points.
Ubas, who hails from Misamis Oriental, also set a new Philippines record after surpassing the 4,565 points of Jesson Ramil Cid in the 2014 Asian Championships held in Hangzhou, China.

The third-place finish marks the only podium finish of the Philippines in the sports event.
