The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported that Mayon Volcano recorded two volcanic earthquakes, 72 rockfall events, and approximately 100 pyroclastic density currents (PDCs) on Friday, January 9.

A crater glow was also observed at the volcano’s summit, accompanied by the flow of pyroclastic materials from the crater, signaling ongoing volcanic activity.

Mayon remains under Alert Level 3, indicating high volcanic unrest.

Authorities continue to strictly enforce the prohibition of entry into the six-kilometer Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ) and the surrounding Extended Danger Zone (EDZ) to ensure public safety.
