

Following the magnitude 8.7 earthquake that struck Russia, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) issued a minor sea level disturbance advisory for certain coastal areas in the Philippines.
According to PHIVOLCS, based on information from the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center, coastal areas facing the Pacific Ocean may experience tsunami waves with heights of less than one meter.
The first waves are expected to arrive between 1:20 p.m. and 2:40 p.m. today, July 30, and additional waves may occur for several hours.
The following provinces are currently on alert and have advised the public to avoid beaches and coastal areas:
- Batanes Group of Islands
- Albay
- Dinagat Islands
- Cagayan
- Sorsogon
- Surigao del Norte
- Isabela
- Catanduanes
- Surigao del Sur
- Aurora
- Northern Samar
- Davao del Norte
- Quezon
- Eastern Samar
- Davao Oriental
- Camarines Norte
- Leyte
- Davao Occidental
- Camarines Sur
- Southern Leyte
- Davao del Sur
- Davao de Oro
In the affected areas, residents living near the shoreline are advised to move farther inland. Boat owners should secure their vessels away from the waterfront, while those already at sea are urged to remain in deeper waters until further notice.
