The Philippines is now part of the "VIP Club" or the Southeast Asian countries' list of best-performing economies tagged by economic leaders at the World Economic Forum (WEF), according to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

Through a press release by the Malacañang on Sunday, Marcos shared that the country's participation at the WEF showcased the Philippine economy's strong performance.

Moreover, the President met with other global leaders at the economic forum, with various foreign investors interested in exploring business opportunities in the Philippines.

Marcos also had the chance to meet and discuss views with other leaders from different countries and organizations, such as World Trade Organization (WTO) Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, World Bank Managing Director for Operations Axel Van Trotsenburg, International Monetary Fund Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva and former United Kingdom Prime Minister Tony Blair.

The Philippine Development Plan, the 8-point socioeconomic agenda, and "many other policies and legislations that stress the economic reforms of the Philippines that have led to its steady growth" were among the programs of the government he emphasized.

When the Philippines participated in the WEF's Country Strategy Dialogue, he also announced the soft launch of the nation's first-ever sovereign wealth fund.

In his welcome address after taking part in the WEF, Marcos stated that his presence in the international forum was intended to draw attention to the new economic condition and policies promoting the Philippines and to learn from the heads of state and leading global business figures.
