Direct flights between Manila and Tel Aviv in Israel have been agreed upon by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Israeli Foreign Minister Eliyahu Cohen.

Cohen informed the President at a meeting in Malacañang on Monday that direct flights between the Philippines and Israel might improve commercial and tourism links between the two countries.

He also talked with Marcos about the possibility of establishing a direct flight between Israel's external sea and the Philippines, offering his opinions on how both ministries will collaborate to establish the direct flight, attracting more business people to come and invest.

Cohen persuaded Marcos that Israel could collaborate with the Philippines on agricultural and food security.

He also suggested that the two countries work together on water management, citing Israel's extensive experience in this field and indicating that an Israeli expert might visit the Philippines to discuss the situation.

For his part, Marcos stated that agricultural development is critical for the Philippines and that he admires Israel's agricultural progress.

Marcos expressed gratitude to Cohen for raising the subject, citing agriculture as the Philippines' top concern, particularly in terms of economic development.

Meanwhile, Cohen also met with his Filipino colleague, Secretary Enrique Manalo, and discussed ways to strengthen bilateral ties.
