The call for endorsements is now officially open to identify and recruit key representatives from the private sector who can ensure comprehensive representation in addressing the needs of the country’s creative sector.

This announcement was made by the Philippine Creative Industries Development Council (PDIDC) as it reaches out to business support organizations and creative workers associations to endorse professionals who have dedicated a decade or more to their specific creative industry domain.

“We're seeking nine industry leaders, each representing a distinct creative domain. Their insights and experiences will ensure that the PCIDC’s strategies are not only innovative but also grounded in the realities of the industry,” said Supervising Undersecretary of the Creative Industries Development Program Management Unit (CID-PMU) Rafaelita M. Aldaba.

According to Section 4 of the Republic Act No. 11904, also known as the Philippine Creative Industries Development Act (PCIDA), endorsement are currently sought for domains including (1) Audiovisual Media, (2) Digital Interactive Media, (3) Creative Services, (4) Design, (5) Publishing and Printed Media, (6) Performing Arts, (7) Visual Arts, (8) Traditional Cultural Expressions, and (9) Cultural Sites.

Their mandate spans from strategic planning and policy-making to ensuring private sector involvement, amplifying global outreach, and strengthening the foundation of our creative sectors,” Aldaba said.

Other government agencies that form part of the Council include the Department of Education (DepEd), the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Department of Tourism (DOT), the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Commission on Higher Education (CHED), National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), and Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL).

The private sector can submit their endorsement until 9 September 2023. For more information on the endorsement process and the role of the PCIDC, stakeholders and interested parties are encouraged to visit https://sites.google.com/view/pcidc-call-for-endorsement.
