The Philippines on Friday accused China of destabilizing peace and stability in the West Philippine Sea following the laser-pointing incident made by its coast guard against the country's vessel ship earlier this month.
In a public briefing, Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) spokesperson Ma. Teresita Daza pleaded China to stop harassing the country's coast guard as well as the Filipino fishermen.
"We’re calling on China to cease and restrain from this action kasi hindi lang ho ito damaging, it’s dangerous. It is also destabilizing in terms of peace and stability in the region," Daza said.
Daza said the President have expressed serious concern on the "increasing frequency and intensity of actions that are happening in West Philippine Sea."
President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. earlier summoned Chinese Ambassador Huang Xilian to discuss the incident, which caused temporary blindness to the crew at the bridge.
This prompted the country to file another diplomatic protest against China.
China, meanwhile, denied the allegation and said this claim "does not reflect the truth."
Several countries have declared their support to the Philippines amid the dispute.
