The Philippines has experienced this year&rsquo;s longest night caused by December Solstice &mdash; the moment the sun is directly above the Tropic of Capricorn in the Southern Hemisphere &mdash; today, December 22, 2022.&nbsp;
The solstice happened at exactly 5:48 AM earlier.&nbsp;
"During the December Solstice, the northern hemisphere will experience the shortest day and longest night; this day also marks the first day of winter," the state weather bureau PAGASA said Thursday.&nbsp;
With this, the southern hemisphere marked its first day of summer.
