The Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) on Monday said it is set to deploy personnel to assist in earthquake-hit areas in Türkiye.
In a press release, OCD spokesperson Bernardo Alejandro said the agency is preparing to send Emergency Medical and Urban Search and Rescue teams.
"Currently, the OCD is coordinating with concern agencies and mustering manpower and equipment for possible deployment responding to the request of Türkiye," he said.
According to Alejandro, the Turkish Embassy in Manila formally requested assistance from the OCD.
On behalf of the agency, the OCD spokesperson expressed condolences to the Republic of Türkiye for the unfortunate number of casualties that the killer quake caused.
A magnitude 7.8 earthquake jolted central Türkiye and northwest Syria on Monday, February 6.
According to the latest death toll by the Türkiye's Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), a total of 2,316 individuals were killed.
On the other hand, about 1,444 people died in Syria.
No Filipinos were reportedly hurt, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported on Monday.
