The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) announced on Wednesday that the Philippines is preparing to launch an electronic visa (e-visa) system, aiming to simplify the process for foreigners wishing to visit the country.

During a press briefing, Undersecretary Jesus Domingo of the DFA revealed that the implementation of the e-visa system is scheduled for the third quarter of the year, with the latest target date is by end of September.

He highlighted that the new system will enable foreign nationals to remotely apply for Philippine visas using their personal computers, laptops, or mobile devices.

This digital approach is expected to streamline and expedite the visa application process, offering greater convenience for tourists and business travelers coming to the Philippines.

“This would make the visa application process faster, more efficient and convenient for foreign nationals who wish to visit the Philippines for touristic and business purposes,” the DFA official said.

Currently, the e-visa program is exclusively available to Taiwanese nationals, as stated by Malacañang. However, the government intends to expand the program to encompass more nationalities.
