President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. met with His Excellency Ahmed Saad Nasser Abdullah Al-Homidi, the Qatari Ambassador to the Philippines, during a courtesy call on Wednesday to discuss and enhance bilateral relations between the Philippines and Qatar.

President Marcos acknowledged the visit of Qatari Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on April 22, during which they discussed strengthening political relations and addressing mutual concerns, emphasizing its significance in reinforcing the bond between the two countries.

"We made a very strong connection, and I think that will be always good for both our countries,” Marcos said referring to the said visit.

Moreover, His Excellency Ahmed Saad Nasser Abdullah Al-Homidi expressed his satisfaction with the cooperation between Qatar and the Philippines, extending gratitude for the warm welcome he received during his visit to the country.

“We are more happy to be in cooperation. We work a lot of projects — and we try to be stronger on this relationship,” Qatari Ambassador mentioned.

Currently, around 242,609 Filipinos are working and residing in Qatar.

Meanwhile, Marcos will be sending a representative to participate in the Asia Cooperation Dialogue Summit in Qatar.
