The Philippine National Men's Volleyball Team clinched its first victory at the Asian Games after 49 long years.
In a sweeping triumph against the Afghan team, they secured sets with scores of 25-23, 25-16, and a resounding 25-12 in the third.
Bryan Bagunas shone brightly, amassing an impressive 16 points, predominantly through 14 successful attacks. Steven Rotter displayed a dominant performance as well in this bounce-back win for Team Philippines, tallying 13 points.
With a commanding 16-8 lead in the third set, the Philippines sealed the deal with a 9-4 run, highlighted by a pivotal block and attack from Marck Espejo, who contributed 6 points, 5 receptions, and 3 digs.
With this victory, the Philippine volleyball team now holds a 1-1 record, securing the third position in Pool F.
Tonight, September 21 at 7 pm, they will strive for another win as they face the formidable Japanese powerhouse team.
