The Philippines on Monday logged 6,493 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 2,727,286.
In its latest bulletin, the Department of Health (DOH) said the country's total active infections climbed to 68,832, the lowest count since the 66,895 reported on August 5, 2021.
Of the over 68,000 active cases, 79.7% are mild, 5.5% are asymptomatic, 4.5% are severe, and 1.9% are in critical condition.
According to DOH, 25 duplicates were removed from the total case count, while 30 cases previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.
It added that all laboratories were operational on October 16, while two laboratories were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System.
Data from the DOH also showed that 62% of the country’s intensive care unit beds are utilized, while 45% of the mechanical ventilators are also in use.
