The Philippines has sent donations to aid persons affected by the protracted crisis in Gaza through the Humanitarian Air Bridge.
The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) turned over 8,323 bonnets, 3,187 pairs of gloves, and 20 blankets in a ceremony attended by officials of the Jordanian Honorary Consulate and the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).
“We stand in solidarity with all those impacted by this tragedy and recognize the urgency of the situation,” OCD Administrator Undersecretary Ariel Nepomuceno said in a statement released on Sunday.
He added that he was optimistic other agencies would follow suit.
“We are hopeful that today’s ceremony will not only celebrate the successful partnership we have forged but also inspire other Philippine agencies to join future rounds of this important campaign. Together, we can continue to make a meaningful impact on the lives of those in need, both here and abroad,” he said.
Reuters reported that much of Gaza remains devastated after the war, with buildings leveled and essential services such as electricity and running water severely lacking.
