MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Embassy in South Korea reminds Filipinos in the country to avoid joining mass gatherings, demonstrations and protests, in view of the “current domestic situation” in South Korea.
In an advisory from the Philippine Embassy, it advised Filipinos who are in South Korea to “observe the usual precautions” and to “avoid crowded and congested public areas.”
Rallies and public demonstrations have been held in support and against impeached South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol in Seoul recently.
In the same advisory posted on its Facebook page, the Embassy further reminds Filipinos that under the laws of the Republic of Korea, foreigners are prohibited from participating in local political activities, including demonstrations, under Article 17 of the Immigration Control Act (Sojourn and Departure of Foreigners) of South Korea.
The Embassy advises all Filipino nationals currently in South Korea to comply with all local laws and regulations to avoid any issues that may affect their stay while in the country.
