MANILA - The Philippine Embassy in Israel confirms that one female Filipino national earlier reported missing is now accounted for and was found in a safe area, bringing the number of missing Filipino nationals to six – with two males and four females.
According to updates posted by the Embassy, of the 20 Filipinos initially reported missing, 23 (consisting of 1 male and 22 females), have now been found or rescued and brought to safe areas.
Of these, the embassy reports that one male remains in hospital after being treated for moderate injuries sustained during the rescue operations.
The Philippine Embassy is also looking into reports of the likely death of one Filipina who was earlier reported missing in one of the attacked “kibbutzim” or a communal farm or settlement in Israel.
According to the Embassy, the Labor Attache’ and Welfare Officer are on the ground to assist the sister of the said Filipina in confirming with Israel Police.
Meanwhile, the embassy’s Migrant Workers Office-Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (MWO-OWWA) team is now on its second day of providing assistance to evacuated Filipinos in hotels where they are housed and checking hospitals for possible admitted nationals.
The Embassy expressed its appreciation to the Israeli security forces and the efforts being undertaken to rescue Filipinos caught in combat areas, as well as to the Israeli emergency services and kibbutz authorities who included Filipino nationals in their evacuation operations.
The embassy reiterates that it is exhausting all available means to ascertain the condition of the remaining missing Filipinos and advised the public to rely on official statements and advisories released by Philippine Government agencies to prevent spreading unverified information.
