The Philippines bagged seven medals at the 2024 International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) World Junior Championships held in Leon, Spain on September 14-26.
The Filipino athletes secured a total of four gold medals, two silvers, and one bronze, showcasing their strength and skill on the global stage.
Angeline Colonia triumphed in the snatch category, lifting 74 kilograms to win the gold medal. She also earned a silver in the clean and jerk with a lift of 88 kilograms, leading to an overall gold medal in the 45-kilogram women's division with a combined lift of 162 kilograms.
Lovely Inan clinched the gold in the 49-kilogram women's division. She took silver in the snatch with a lift of 79 kilograms and captured gold in the clean and jerk with a lift of 100 kilograms, securing her place at the top of her category.
Meanwhile, Jhodie Peralta brought home a bronze medal in the snatch for the 55-kilogram women's division.
The IWF Junior World Championships, organized annually by the International Weightlifting Federation, attracts athletes from all over the world to compete at the highest level.
