The suspects in the brutal assasination of Negros Oriental governor Roel Degamo, who were former soldiers, have been dismissed long time ago for various violations of the Articles of War, according to the Philippine Army (PA).
In a statement, PA spokesperson Col. Xerxes Trinidad said that these former soldiers had been dishonorably discharged from the military service years ago for serious violations of the Articles of War.
The suspects were identified as Joric Labrado, Joven Aver, and Benjie Rodriguez, who had corporal ranks before getting booted off the PA roster.
They were arrested on Sunday, hours after the assasination of Degamo.
Moreover, Trinidad explained that the PA supports the Philippine National Police (PNP) and other law enforcement agencies in the urgent resolution of the case.
The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) will also continuously support and cooperate with the law enforcement agencies with their operations and investigations for the immediate identification and apprehension of those who are involved in the crime.
