The Philippine Army has officially removed Cavite 4th District Representative Kiko Barzaga from its reserve force after finding him guilty of committing a grave offense under Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Standard Operating Procedure No. 7, as reported by RH Edniel Parrosa.
Army spokesperson Col. Louie Dema-ala confirmed the decision in an interview on DZRH, explaining that the move stemmed from Barzaga’s social media posts that allegedly incited sedition against the government while he was wearing a military uniform.
The Army stated that such acts pose a risk to the AFP’s position as a non-partisan organization. Because of the decision, Barzaga is no longer authorized to wear the military uniform or to be recommissioned into either the regular or reserve components of the AFP.
The Army clarified that the ruling is administrative in nature and does not affect the congressman’s record or standing as an elected public official.
