The Philippines and Ireland recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Bilateral Consultations with the aim of bringing the two countries closer in terms of cooperation at a senior level on issues of mutual priority.
In attendance for the signing ceremony is Ambassador of Ireland to the Philippines, H.E. William Carlos and the Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) H.E. Enrique Manalo, for the signing of the MOU that will provide a forum for alignment on issues of global importance and to focus on specific actions to strengthen the bilateral relations between the two countries.
In his remarks, Ambassador Carlos said that the agreement is very timely as connections between Ireland and the Philippines have strenghthened greatly in recent years. The establishment of the Bilateral Consulations Mechanism also marks the further deepening of this relationship and further dimension that strengthens the political cooperation between Ireland and the Philippines.
The Embassy of Ireland in the Philippines formally opened in November 2021, paving the way for new channels for business, education cooperation, cultural exchange and political dialogue.
Following the signing, the Embassy of Ireland is looking forward to working closely with the DFA to prepare for inaugural consultations on different areas of mutual concern.
