President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will not be present at the inauguration of US President-elect Donald Trump on January 20.
According to a report by RH Leth Narciso, Philippine Ambassador to the US, Jose Manuel Romualdez, will stand in for President Marcos at the inauguration.
Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Secretary Cesar Chavez stated that the US Secretary of State, on behalf of the Joint Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies, invited chiefs of diplomatic missions and their spouses to represent their heads of state and government at the principal inaugural ceremony.
Secretary Chavez also mentioned that there is no confirmation yet on whether President Marcos will visit the United States to meet with Trump in the early months of 2025.
Previously, Marcos expressed his intention to meet and have discussions with Trump once he is in the White House.
Marcos spoke with Trump in a congratulatory call on November 19, during which he expressed the Philippines' desire to strengthen the relationship between the two countries.
